In 1903, a group of settlers founded the Bohemian Cemetery, miles away from any church so that their dead could be buried without the ministrations of a priest. Although the women tried to teach their children religious values, the men had other ideas. Two years later, in one such Family, a four year old girl named Alice died. Her father refused to have a Christian service, maintaining that she had no soul. Despite her grieving mother's pleas, the girl was buried unceremoniously in an unmarked grave. There is no church overlooking this cemetery, no religious insÃgnia on the rough boards that serve as a gate.
The priest knows that there are some graves which no one has bothered to even mark. But it is for one of these that he has come. In that same spot, Father Peterson blesses Alice's grave and asks God for a sign that she indeed had a soul. Days later, an unexplained phantom light appears. It's a ball of fire, slightly pinkish in color, capable of appearing and disappearing magically.
Decades later, Katherine Walker, forensic psychiatrist, returns to her hometown to help her mother through a nervous breakdown. She runs into Father Peterson, 98, still a lucid man with piercing eyes. He knows she is the last sign and that his mission is almost over.
A town haunted by ghosts. A priest carrying a secret no one wants to remember let alone discuss. All lives and events intertwined by unexpected events to reveal the truth behind the Tabor Light.
